IFC work closely with contractors to provide an independent, third party assurance that through-out the construction phase the specified standards of fire safety remain in place, in turn reducing the risk of costly delays at completion and handover.
For new and refurbished premises, it is necessary to comply with the Building Regulations, which provide the requirements for how the building should be designed and built, and in relation to Fire Safety, they determine how people in a building remain safe should a fire ever start.
After construction or refurbishment, and when a building is brought into use, Regulation 38 provides the framework for how the Fire Safety design information is supplied to the building’s owner or occupier.
How we can Help
We can act for either the contractor or the owner/occupier during construction and prior to handover; having extensive experience checking the quality and suitability of the construction work to ensure what is built matches specification.
We can assist in the compilation of the Regulation 38 fire safety information for the eventual occupier. Once the building is close to practical completion, IFC can undertake a pre-handover inspection to identify any remaining deficiencies.
We can also provide support for the construction site through the delivery of audits and fire risk assessments, and by providing fire training for staff.
